3 Ways to Volunteer

Argus Tees 📌

Get Your Argus Tees

We still have a bunch of Tees left over from Annual, so please come inside and get yours on Monday’s training night.

**Everyone who purchased Tees and has not picked them up can get them from the SSC on Monday nights, at the Lions Hall.

Tagging Tips, for Cadets 📌

How to Make Rejection Not Hurt 😭
  1. Remember:
They are not saying no to YOU as a person.
  2. They are saying NO to spending money.
That makes perfect sense. No one wants to spend.
"Yes" Feels Great 😊
  1. When someone buys, they absolutely ARE saying yes to you.
This is because you did everything needed to convince them. Without your actions, they would not have done it.
  2. Use that knowledge and good feeling to keep trying.
  3. Ignore the “no” and chase the “yes.”

Cadet Teams

The teams are a great way for Cadets to make new friends while building skills. Some teams offer trips local and/or national trips.

Encourage your cadet to try all the teams!

Ching. Park 📌

May 2024 Training Update

We are now training out of the Chinguacousy Park Sandra Hames Centre. This building is also known as the Curling Club and it is next to the kids’ play park and ski hill.

Cadet Stories

Parent Feedback

“The Air Cadet program has been an amazingly influential program for my son. He joined the program at 12 and retired on his 19th birthday. The experiences, opportunities, and teams he joined helped him to become a confident leader, a disciplined team player, and a conscientious member of the community.

My daughter has just started in the program, and I have every confidence that she will benefit in the same way. As a parent, I have had the privilege of helping ensure my kids are prepared and present to participate.

Assisting the SSC with fundraising initiatives, driving cadets, etc., has given me a lot of insight into the importance of the whole family being involved in making the cadet program the best it can be. This program also has an impact on our community at large by assisting the Legion with the poppy campaign, food bank donations, and more.

I can absolutely attest to the fact that, for both cadets and parents, the more you put into this program, the more you will get out of this program.”

–M. Hayward

Fundraising Goals 📌

You're Needed HereThis year our squadron aims to raise $50,000 to cover the cost to operate a unit of our size. We started the year with 140+ cadets registered and we have a waiting list of 200, and growing. Our staff and volunteers are working triple to deliver the program and raise the funds to cover it.

The majority is raised through Tagging in the Fall and again in the Spring. Before the pandemic, we earned up to $30,000 through Tagging.

Weekly Message

Drawing of a Flight Sergeant by W01 DaoustParents, your cadet receives news and announcements at the end of each parade night AND through Cadet 365.

Help your cadet learn organization, problem solving, and time management by encouraging them to do 2 things:

  1. Check Cadet 365/MS Teams every day;
  2. Ask up the chain of command whenever they’re unsure.

Monday Nights

New RecruitMonday training/parade nights are important for all cadets. If you know that your cadet will miss a Monday night, have your cadet report the absence up their Chain of Command (CoC).

Cadets should not arrive at the Bramalea Lions Hall (parade square) before 6:30 pm as there is no supervision prior to then.

The SSC is present at the Bramalea Lions Hall on all Monday training nights to help parents.
